    • Submitting a text entry box

    Please begin a "JAZZ" JOURNAL, which will form a personal term outline that displays the evolution of your thinking throughout the course. Your personal observations, criticism, questions, and theories will form the core of this journal. Make an entry that evaluates this week's lectures, the text and listening assignments, and/or responses to films.

    Note: in your observations, factor in artistic expression, personal and social values, sociocultural context, sexism, racism, proximity of the artist to his/her indigenous socioculture, economic factors, historical objectivity, artistic evolution, artistic freedom, sociocultural baggage, media labels for sacred/secular music, aesthetic appreciation, spiritual expression, etc. You might respond to:

    (1) weekly questions & articles handed out in class;
    (2) films;
    (3) recordings presented during the term; and
    (4) your personal reactions to the information presented in the weekly chapters.
